چکیده

Understanding the impacts and extent of both climate change human activities on ecosystems is crucial to sustainable development. With low anti-interference ability, arid semi-arid are particularly sensitive disturbances from activities. We investigated how what variation influenced major indicators that related ecosystem functions conditions in past decades Xinjiang, a typical region China. analyzed changing trends evapotranspiration (ET), gross primary productivity (GPP) leaf area index (LAI) derived Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite product Breathing Earth System Simulator (BESS) model Xinjiang for different zones. separated quantified contributions forcing studied using residual analysis method zones Xinjiang. Impacts of Climate Change and Anthropogenic Activities on the Ecological Restoration of Wetlands in the Arid Regions of China

As an important part of the global ecosystem, wetlands and their dynamics greatly influence regional eco-environment systems. To understand the distributions, change processes and temporal-spatial characteristics of the wetlands of the inland river basin in an arid region (Heihe River Basin, HRB), this paper employed multi-source remote sensing data to facilitate multi-temporal monitoring of th...

Investigating the interaction between rivers and sand dunes in arid and semi-arid regions of Iran

Extended abstract 1- Introduction Fluvial and aeolian processes are important factors in changing the surface of morphology in the Earth. When rivers and sand dunes meet, the transportation of sediment  between them can lead to one of the systems or both  of them change. With their connection between river sediment and wind systems there would be lots of reactions, but very little has been st...

Trend analysis and detection of precipitation fluctuations in arid and semi-arid regions

The most important impacts of climate change relate to temperature and precipitation. Precipitation is particularly important, because changes in precipitation patterns may lead to floods or droughts in different areas. Also, precipitation is a major factor in agriculture and in recent years interest has increased in learning about precipitation variability for periods of months to annual and s...

The Landscape as a Unit for Rangeland Inventory in Arid and Semi-arid Regions of Iran

Severe range degradation was critically extended in many region of Iran and caused many rangelands were restricted and interwoven with croplands in a complex system. Therefore, rangeland planning and inventory as an isolated activity has become almost impossible. Current landscape planning involves contributions of different social organizations often with different interests and with different...

Impacts of climate change on extreme precipitation events in arid (Bandar Abbas) and semi-arid (Shahrekord) stations in Iran

The aim of this paper is to project extreme precipitation events in an arid and a semiarid station. In order to project climate change based on general circulation models (GCMs), we have applied LARS-WG[1] downscaling tool. This stochastic weather generator down-scaled the climate of two synoptic stations using HADCM3 model and A2 emission scenario for 2040. We extracted extreme precipitation e...
